Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract position in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). As a PICU RN, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver optimal care while maintaining the safety, comfort, and well-being of both patients and families.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Deliver patient care based on nursing theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.

Assess and evaluate patient care needs and utilize critical thinking skills in patient management.

Work with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.

Prioritize care tasks, including teaching, rounding, and discharge planning.

Educate patients and families about the plan of care, promoting health, and disease prevention.

Foster strong communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Ensure effective and efficient management of assignments within the Care Delivery Model.

Provide compassionate, evidence-based patient care while considering cultural diversity and family needs.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and safety practices to enhance care outcomes.

Address safety hazards and promote a safe environment for patients.

Utilize technology for documentation and performance improvement initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Pediatric ICU/Critical Care experience (minimum of 1 year).
• Relevant clinical competence in pediatric nursing practice.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to respond quickly in various clinical situations and perform physical tasks like lifting and standing for extended periods.
• Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and data entry.
• BLS and PALS certifications required.
• Must hold a valid RN license in New York State.

Education:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Languages:

English proficiency required (read, write, speak).
