Job Description

MissionXI are working with a leading Electrical Contractor based in Richmond, VA. Our client is renowned for their work on Data Center and Mission Critical design-build projects, and they are seeking a Preconstruction Co-ordinator to help them reach their ultimate goal: spearheading growth and shaping the future of next-generation Data Center facilities at the forefront of digital infrastructure.

Responsabilities:

  • Develop conceptual budgets and cost models to support early-stage project qualification.
  • Manage the full estimating process, including document reviews, quantity takeoffs, and bid reviews.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain and validate pricing.
  • Serve as the primary client contact during the preconstruction phase, including interviews and presentations.
  • Lead value engineering exercises and provide alternative pricing options based on client requests.
  • Establish and manage project budgets, billing schedules (SOV), and financial tracking during design.
  • Identify cost impacts, submit change orders, and maintain budget accuracy throughout design development.
  • Oversee coordination between design consultants, internal engineering, BIM, and estimating teams.
  • Ensure alignment between design intent and budget constraints through active issue tracking.
  • Supervise and mentor preconstruction team members; review deliverables and delegate tasks as needed.
  • Work with leadership to develop and implement best-in-class preconstruction services and processes.
  • Support contract reviews and risk assessments in collaboration with legal and business development teams.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as an Electrical Project Manager (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical contracting and/or MEP coordination
  • Strong proficiency in electrical estimating with a solid understanding of project budgeting
  • Skilled in using ConEst, Google Workspace, Microsoft Excel, and Bluebeam
  • Proven track record managing design-build projects from concept through completion
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and integrity, with the ability to perform effectively in independent field settings
  • Well-rounded in both technical expertise and communication skills
  • Capable of leading, managing, and mentoring team members
  • Adept at building client relationships and presenting confidently during project interviews
