Job Description

At our nationally recognized law firm in Sacramento, we understand the vital role a dedicated Labor and Employment Litigation Paralegal plays in our dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting attorneys in all aspects of labor and employment litigation, including case preparation, document management, and trial support. We're looking for a proactive individual with excellent organizational skills and a thorough understanding of legal procedures and terminology related to labor and employment law.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys with all phases of labor and employment litigation cases, from inception through resolution.
  • Manage case files, ensuring all documents are organized and up-to-date.
  • Prepare and file pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
  • Coordinate and manage the discovery process, including collecting, reviewing, and producing documents.
  • Conduct legal research on labor and employment laws, regulations, and case law.
  • Gather and analyze information relevant to cases, including employment records and other pertinent documents.
  • Summarize depositions, interrogatories, and testimony for attorney review.
  • Maintain communication with clients, witnesses, and experts.
  • Schedule and prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Draft and manage correspondence with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
  • Organize and prepare trial exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for mediations, arbitrations, and trial proceedings.
  • Attend trials and hearings as needed to support the legal team.
  • Maintain and update case management databases and tracking systems.
  • Assist with the billing process, including tracking billable hours and managing expense reports
  • Perform general administrative tasks as needed to support the legal team

Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a litigation paralegal
  • Strong understanding of labor and employment laws and litigation procedures
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficient in legal research and legal software applications
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000, commensurate with your experience and qualifications
