About the Role

We are looking for a Carrier Sourcing Manager to join us on our journey to facilitate a digital revolution in the B2B supply chain. The Carrier Sourcing Manager is responsible for building and maintaining a carrier base for the 5F Platform as well as building a team to successfully solicit carriers for additional capacity.

Responsibilities

• Effectively solicit and qualify carriers into the 5F Brokerage network.
• Deploy RFP to carriers, audit responses, analyze, and negotiate/follow up with carrier selection.
• Monitor capacity demand vs. existing network capacity and action any necessary follow-up.
• Negotiate rates and capacity with carriers using industry knowledge and market pricing to achieve best-in-class pricing and service from the carrier base.
• Reinforce the standards associated with an acceptable carrier within 5F’s carrier qualifications.
• Be prepared to meet with carriers to focus on continuing needs as well as to better understand the synergy with 5F Brokerage.
• Build and manage a high-performing team of 2-3 carrier sourcers.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Develops, owns, executes, and implements the global sourcing strategies & the negotiations for logistics modes.
• Supply agreements must support the business's strategic objectives.
• Works collaboratively & cross functionally across the logistics team and within our business teams to meet and exceed objectives.
• Builds strategies that are designed to reduce operational costs, and/or create efficiency improvements, towards logistics cost productivity while balancing service.
• Measure Key Performance Indicators designed to understand performance (balancing cost & service) of established objectives such as on-time delivery, cost per mile, project productivity, actual vs. plan costs, carrier performance scorecards, etc.
• Lead, instruct, and develop others in the production, analysis, and interpretation of complex metrics and modeling associated with financial (including inflation & purchase price variance), cost, and performance metrics of transportation and logistics activities.
• Manage transportation objectives, plans, and development projects.
• Communicate complex Logistical concepts to others in the organization.
• Audits for cost precision that negotiated pricing & carrier prioritization is being achieved.
• Manage a core Carrier Program with the expectation of exceeding financial goals through best in class pricing and service from those carriers in the program.
• Engage in carrier development that can serve existing and new businesses in all modes, including capacity negotiation and strategic alignment with business opportunities.
• Identify and onboard new contract carriers and provide forecasting of expected volumes for each new setup by collaborating with our client’s Operations, Pricing, and Sales teams.
• Network optimization of existing business and providing our client’s sales force with information for needed lanes, continuous movement opportunities, and cost reduction opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of applicable transportation/logistics experience.
• Previous experience in sourcing and managing new carriers is required.
• Previous experience managing a large carrier base is required.
• A solid understanding of logistics & brokerage freight.
• In-depth knowledge of OTR truckload operations, local, regional, dedicated, and long-haul.
• Self-motivated, sales, and customer service oriented.
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Well organized with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations (Hours of Service, cargo claims, etc.) is helpful.
• Professional demeanor and strong work ethic.
• Ability and availability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the needs of our external clients.
