Position Summary:
This is a full-time grant-funded Career & College Pathways Coordinator position for the Southwest Colorado Education Collaborative (“the Collaborative”). This position includes the design and implementation of work-based learning and regional programming for career and college pathways for high school students across 4 school districts in Southwest Colorado, including Bayfield, Ignacio, Durango, and Silverton. This role will focus on supporting district staff to implement new regional career and college pathways together, building relationships with students, developing teacher professional learning communities, overseeing the implementation of multiple career and college pathways, and being a spokesperson for the Collaborative in local communities.
Program & Position Overview:
In November 2020, the Collaborative received a RISE Grant through the Office of the Governor of Colorado. Comprised of five school districts in southwest Colorado (Archuleta, Bayfield, Durango, Ignacio, and Silverton), and two institutions of higher education (Pueblo Community College and Fort Lewis College), the Collaborative was formed to address areas of common need for students in the region, allowing them to access additional opportunities for post-secondary success. In partnership with the five school districts, two higher education partners, and local community partners, the Collaborative plans to reimagine college and career pathways by partnering in a more deliberate and coherent way to ensure high quality programming is available to all students in the region.
In July 2022, four additional school districts (Dove Creek, Dolores, Mancos, and Montezuma Cortez) won a Rural CoAction grant through the Colorado Department of Education to partner with the Collaborative and build a Hospitality and Tourism regional student pathway together.
The Collaborative is seeking a candidate who is both prepared and excited to serve as a Career & College Pathways Coordinator. Ideally, we are seeking candidates who possess a background in non profit, event planning, education, work based learning, and have a preference for working in a start-up environment.
Work Environment:
SWCEC is a hybrid work environment that requires team members to have standing in-person weekly meetings while also having the flexibility to work from home and other venues. The organization provides a laptop, headset, and hotspot for remote work and a shared workspace location for in-person meetings and events. Therefore, it is a requirement for this person to live in one of the communities we serve.
This position specifically will require travel via your own personal vehicle to specific school districts you are assigned. SWCEC provides mileage reimbursement for this travel. It is an expectation that this role will be in school districts multiple times a week supporting recruitment and building relationships with students and educators. SWCEC supports a flexible work schedule to accommodate life schedules when needed. This position will operate during normal business hours unless there are night, weekend, or overnight events that are a part of this position’s job role and responsibilities.
